Teaching and Student Evaluation

Teaching Philosophy 🌱

My teaching connects scholarship with practice. As a researcher in trauma-informed care and harm reduction, I design courses where students build both technical skills and the critical awareness needed to work effectively with marginalized populations.

I create inclusive learning environments through experiential methods, including case simulations, reflective dialogue, peer discussions, and multimedia tools. These approaches help students move beyond memorization toward deeper analysis and application. I'm particularly focused on reducing barriers for underrepresented students by offering multiple ways to engage and demonstrate competence.

I see learning as collaborative. I use student feedback from mid- and end-of-semester evaluations to adjust course delivery and maintain open communication about how we learn together. My goal is to mentor scholar-practitioners who approach their work with rigor, ethical clarity, and respect for the communities they serve.

"I really appreciated your energy, fun personality, and the fun activities you brought to the classroom environment. I felt like I learned a lot and have already used the information learned in my practicum to make diagnoses. I felt heard and seen and was given space to share my thoughts, and I appreciated that."
